CKAN Data Catalogues Implementation
Department of Infastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts
Our Role
We were engaged as a solution architects and system integrators to assist the Department in analysing the data hubs requirements, design high level solution components, assess solution options for the solution components, provide recommendations for the each component and document the detailed design of the end to end solution. We were also tasked to deliver the data catalogues components of the solution.
Challenge
Solution uses different technologies and consists of multiple applications and subsystems. The project involved multiple business and technical teams that we were required to engage with and keep informed. Open-Source Software (OSS) that was selected for the data catalogue component, required new custom extensions and customisation to meet the Department’s requirements.
Our Approach
In our engagement, YNOT worked closely with various business and technical teams from the Department to understand and validate the project requirements, analyse potential options, implement Proof of Concepts for some options & recommendations, document the detailed design of the solution architecture, and implemented the data catalogue components of the solution.
Outcome/Benefits
Release one of the public data catalogue was successfully deployed to production in December and we are working closely with the project team to implement Release 2 (due in March).
